So my BFF Rachel and I have decided to do monthly Pinterest challenges. Mainly I got inspired by Sherry over at YoungHouseLove and her challenges with her BFF to stop pinning and start doing. We’ve been doing this for two months now and it has been great. Last month I did a wreath for my front door. It’s still hanging there. This month I had more time and I had been wanting some canvas art for my livingroom. Originally, I was just going to print a 16×20 canvas picture of Clyde. Then I got inspiration from Pinterest to attempt crayon art.
I wasn’t really wanting the ones where you attach the crayons to the canvas and let them melt down the canvas, no that just wasn’t going to work for me. Then I saw this one! I knew it was exactly what I was looking for. So I gave it a whirl.
This is what it looked like after I covered the entire canvas:
And here is what it looks like finished on and hanging in the perfect spot on the wall:
I have to admit I was intimidated by the craft, but as it turns out, it was way easier than I had ever imagined. All you needed was a hair dryer, a box of crayons and a canvas. Seriously, that’s it. I just parked myself on the floor and went to town. Clyde miraculously let me be for a bit while I accomplished my task. I think it was the noise the hair dryer was making, but I’ll take it.
I got the picture printed at Costco. I find their printing services to be of pretty good quality and very affordable. I think the 8×8 print, in sepia tone, was $1.40. Sign. Me. Up. I take tons of pictures and do annual (sometimes semi-annual) trips to the cabin with my cousins to scrapbook. Yes, Clyde has a scrapbook. He is my furbaby. But I get all my pictures printed there as well, for a whopping 13 cents a 4×6 print! Who can argue with that? Not this girl.
How about you guys, are you doing anything crafty? Was it inspired by Pinterest? Do you do challenges with your friends to get yourselves moving? I’m not sure what May has in store just yet…I guess you’ll have to stay tuned!
*I was not paid or perked by any of the companies mentioned in this post, including Costco and Pinterest.
